Rock Creek Classic’s

One of the best things about having return clients is coming up with fun new objectives. Dave and I came up with the Rock Creek Classic Linkup:

Climb “Main Attraction” on the Gong Show wall, go eat salmon burgers and amazing pie at Pie In The Sky, hike into base camp, and then climb Bear Creek Spire via the North Arete. It sounded like a great weekend to me and it turned out to be fantastic!

Main Attraction is a stellar multi-pitch climb in Rock Creek Canyon with a bit of everything, perfect rock, fun climbing, and a great warm up for Bear Creek Spire.

After cruising Main Attraction we had a great lunch at Pie In The Sky and with full bellies hiked into base camp to prepare for Bear Creek Spire the next day.

The best thing about your alarm going off at 3 am is witnessing the sunrise on your climb!

  1. This truly was a classic two days of climbing on near perfect white Sierra granite. Beware of “Pie in the Sky” mud pie, there are enough calories in it to propel you up Bear Creek Spire and back.

Thanks to Zack for another great day of Sierra Alpine climbing.

BTW, the relaxed, self assured summit selfie, doesn’t speak to the tiny, sloping summit of Bear Creek Spire. In reality there is room for about one and a half people up there.
