Every once in a while I get to push the limits of what my clients think is possible. I had the opportunity to take one of my best clients up an awesome 6 pitch 5.10b climb and discover new limits. Thanks, John for yet another great day in the hills!
Mt. Humphreys (13,986 ft.) dominates the Bishop sky line and has many great climbs to the summit, none of which are “easy”. One of my favorite areas is the Humphreys basin on the backside of the mountain that offers many great routes to the top. Thanks to Dan, Dennis, Ken, and Sierra Mountaineering International for a great trip!
This weeks itinerary:
Failed summit attempt on Middle Palisade in a day, due to rain, hail, and lightening = exciting.
Mt. Humphreys summit success with three great guys. 14 feet shy of 14,000 feet.
Mt. Emerson summit success with John. A super fun 5.4 with about 2500 feet of climbing and an exposed ridge climb!
Topped it all of with a a great 5.10b 6 pitch climb near Lundy Canyon for another great day with John!
Off to the East Buttress on Mt. Whitney in two days, let the good times roll!
You never know what the day may bring! I woke up at 8am, the phone rang at 8:30 and and an hour later I was climbing at the Horse Shoe Slabs with Sal. We had a fantastic day on perfect granite working on the transition from plastic to real rock. Sal did great and got in 11 pitches! Thanks, Sal!
